No One is Digging Through My Garbage!

Another random thought... Celebrities are bothered by unusual happenings... at least to the rest of us "non-celebrity types." People are actually digging through Hollywood's "A-Listers" trash with an eye for making money and evidently this can pay BIG.

An empty dog food can discarded by Paris Hilton went for $300.A tissue used by Scarlett Johansson on the Tonight Show went on the block on E-Bay  and was sold for $5,300. Evidently, the old adage is true. "One man's (or woman's) trash IS another man's treasure."

No one wants to auction off my old tissues. No one is digging through my trash. Well, we do have an occasional visit from a black bear. He makes a mess, eats things that should not be ingested by anything, then leaves the mess and disappears.

In the eyes of the rest of the world, I am relatively insignificant. I have to pay to have my trash disposed of and frankly, I understand why no one is digging through my discards.

While the rest of the world is going "nuts" over big names, I am just me. I am okay with that. Especially in light of Zephaniah 3:17. Originally written to Israel, it gives us a glimpse of how God sees all of His people.

The LORD your God is with you,
    he is mighty to save.
He will take great delight in you,
he will quiet you with his love,
he will rejoice over you with singing."
Zephaniah 3:17 (NIV)

I would rather be God's delight than the world's "flavor of the day." Wouldn't you?
